For the most recent cover story of XXL featuring Nas, he was interviewed by Tyler, the Creator. The result is not your typical interview, and XXL gives us some of the highlights from their conversation (which ranged from talk of God, drugs, and Bruno Mars). Check it out below!
On Bruno Mars:
Nas: “Are we gonna see you and Bruno gunning after eachother with AKs? What’s going on with that?”
Tyler: “I don’t hate Bruno. I hate his haircut, and his music pisses me off. Like, you ever been driving in a car, and, you know, you’re driving, going through the freeway, and then some fuck boy cuts you off, and it fucks everything up? That’s how I feel when I hear his music.”
Nas: “So you don’t believe in God?”
Tyler: “Nah. I just live life. I grew up in a Christian family, but, you know, the way Mom brought me up is to, you know, do you, to always be yourself.”
Tyler: “I never had a drink in my life. I don’t smoke or anything.
Nas: “You mean, you’re just naturally like this?
Nas: “That’s fuckin’ crazy.”
On the Internet:
Tyler: I don’t get on the Internet as much anymore. it drives me crazy.
Nas: The Internet is Satan.
Tyler: Dude! I said the same thing! I hate Tumblr. You know what Tumblr is? I fuckin’ hate Tumblr! That shit is evil. I’ve seen that shit turn people crazy.
Nas: I don’t even know what that is.
On Nas’ upcoming album:
Nas: The album is coming this year.
Tyler: Is there a certain sound for it?
Nas: There’s a couple of them. “Nasty” was important for me, you know? To be this deep in the game, to go back to the sound I kinda started on: great beats, no chorus, just rhymes, doing whatever I want to do. That’s part of the sound to it. The part of the sound to it is also me smoked out, gangsta shit. I think there’s some other pieces of it that’s personal. Different sounds…
HipHopDX recently caught up with B.o.B. to talk about the rumours of him and T.I. working on a collaborative album entitled The Man and The Martian.
Check out what B.o.B. has to say on it:
HipHopDX: Talk a bit about The Man and The Martian album that you and T.I. are reportedly working on…
B.o.B.: The Man and The Martian is something we’re talking about, an idea that we’re playing with. We just kinda wanna let it happen and record as we see fit.
DX: That idea’s kind of crazy though.
B.o.B.: Mars and Earth aren’t too far apart. [Laughs]
DX: So you’re Mars.
B.o.B.: I mean, they’re interchangeable.
DX: Your styles are vastly different from one another. Will the album be you and T.I. playing off of each other or more of you meeting in the middle?
B.o.B.: I feel like when me and [T.I.] get in the studio, we can organically make music and Tip actually co-produced one of the songs on my [The Adventures of Bobby Ray] album, “Fifth Dimension.” A lot of people don’t even know that, so I have a lot of confidence that we’ll show people just how close Earth and Mars are.
DX: When did you start talking about doing a collaborative album?
B.o.B.: It’s been something that’s always been in the air, but it’s kinda has to materialize at its own pace but I would be prepared to see some music coming from The Man and The Martian.
Big Sean is off the hook in the sexual abuse case he picked up last August in New York. The G.O.O.D. Music artist plead guilty to a lesser charge in court today (October 26) and was sentenced to a mere $750 fine.
“I am pleased to announce that after further investigation the Niagra County District Attorney’s Office decided not to pursue any of the sexual misconduct allegations against Mr. Anderson,” Big Sean’s lawyer, Scott Leemon, told XXLMag.com. “As a result in order to get this entire ordeal behind him Mr. Anderson agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of unlawful imprisonment with a $750 fine. Mr. Anderson regrets any misunderstandings that occurred that day and reiterates he did not engage in any type of sexual misconduct. “
As previously reported, Sean was arrested and charged with third-degree sexual abuse, forcible touching and second-degree unlawful imprisonment charges after a female issued a complaint that she had allegedly been sexually assaulted, back on August 4. The incident followed the Lewiston Festival, where Big Sean performed.
Sean’s associate, Willie Antonio Hansbro, also accepted the same plea deal.
Sean has yet to issue a statement regarding the case.
Cause confirmed to be alcohol poisoning
Finally three months after the death of the 27-year-old singer, the official cause of Amy Winehouse’s death has been confirmed by the coroner, Suzanne Greenway, to be alcohol poisoning.
The initial autopsy was inconclusive, however no drugs were found in her system at the time.
Now it seems that the actual cause was accidental–too much alcohol. It has been revealed that Winehouse’s blood-alcohol limit was more than five times that of the drunk-driving limit (she had 416 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, when the legal limit in Britain is 80 mg). It has also been discovered that there was one drug in her system, called Librium, which is a sedative that was prescribed to her to help ease the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. According to the coroner though this drug played no part in the singer’s death.
An excerpt from the 8-page-long article
Drake is featured on the cover of The Source magazine for the November/Annual Power 30 issue. The following is a quote from the 8-page-long story which was written by the former Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, Kim Osorio.
Drake says “When I was a kid trying to figure out what I liked, it was [Kanye] who I related to the most. He was an artist, in every sense, from his cover art to his music. Now, I would say he was a really great competitor…”
I guess we’ll have to wait to know how that sentence ends until the magazine comes out, on November 15th, the same day that Take Care hits stores! For this issue The Source has also made its first ever Digital 30, “ranking to acknowledge those who are at the forefront of the web space in the Hip-Hop culture.”
